National Chemical Laboratory, a unit of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), is a premier scientific organization involved in conducting high quality research in area of chemical and allied sciences. Applications are invited ONLINE ONLY from Indian nationals for filling up the following scientific positions:

1. Scientist 11
a. Pay Matrix (7th CPC) : Level – 11 (Rs. 67700 - 208700)

c.  Essential Educational Qualifications & Experience: Ph. D. submitted in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Chemical Technology OR M.E/M. Tech. in Chemical Engineering/ Chemical Technology
d. Desirable Qualification and Experience: Master’s degree in management or business administration or Intellectual Property rights. Candidate should have experience of handling large multi-location, multi-dimensional research projects in the field of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. He should be having in-depth understanding and experience in marketing technologies and Patents developed by the laboratory. The selected candidate will provide leadership in dealing with commercial aspects of technology transfer licensing agreement, contract research and Consultancy agreements, financial management along with Intellectual Property rights. The candidate should have excellent communication skills and should be proficient in converting lab technologies and Intellectual Property Rights into business. The candidates having experience in Product Development/Technology Innovation/Applied Technology etc. will be preferred.

a. Division : Chemical Engineering & Process Development (CEPD)
b. Essential Educational Qualifications & Experience: M.E. in Chemical Engineering / Biochemical Engineering OR M. Tech. in Chemical Engineering / Biochemical Engineering /Biotechnology OR Ph. D. submitted in Chemical Engineering /Biochemical Engineering/ Biotechnology
c. Desirable Qualification and Experience: Ph. D. in Biotechnology/Biochemical Engineering/Chemical Engineering from recognized university. Excellent academic record and having sound research expertise in upstream and downstream processing and/or analytical characterization of recombinant proteins like antibodies, antibody fragments or enzymes. Minimum 1-2 year post Ph.D. experience (Industrial experience preferred) in process or product development in upstream and or downstream processing of recombinant proteins. This exceptional individual must have in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in upstream or downstream process development activities, such as high cell density fermentations, purification, characterization, and, preferably experience with commercial readiness strongly preferred. The candidates having experience in Product Development/Technology Innovation/Applied Technology etc. will be preferred.

3. Post : Scientist

Desirable Qualification and Experience: Experience in process development, process design and engineering, process optimization, actual hands on experience of process development relevant to fine and specialty chemicals and process intensification, with a proven record of excellence in research, as evidenced by publications in peer reviewed journals and/or patents in the relevant field with leading contributions. The candidates having experience in Process Automation, Process Optimization etc. will be preferred. For M. E. and M. Tech. Candidates experience of more than three years in the above specified areas is preferable. The candidates having experience in Product Development/Technology Innovation/Applied Technology etc. will be preferred.

4. Post : Scientist
a. Division : Chemical Engineering & Process Development (CEPD)
b. Essential Educational Qualifications & Experience: M.E/M. Tech. in Chemical Engineering OR Ph. D. submitted in Chemical Engineering.
c. Desirable Qualification and Experience: Having experience on wastewater treatment technologies/ processes /devices as core area of research and with minimum 2 publications in SCI journals of the subject areas mentioned above. Hands-on experience in the design and development effluent treatment plant or solvent recovery process/plant is highly desirable. Candidates having work experience in advanced wastewater techniques/Product Development/Process Development/ Technology innovation/Applied technology/Translation research etc. will be given due weightage.

1. Post : Sr. Scientist
a. Division : Biochemical Sciences Division
b. Essential Educational Qualifications & Experience: Ph. D. in any branch of biological sciences involving protein structural biology work with two years post-doctoral work experience in X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-electron microscopy for macromolecules (proteins) with reference to infectious diseases.
c. Desirable Qualification and Experience: Minimum 5-years of postdoctoral experience and 5-publications in SCI journals in the above mentioned area. The candidates having experience in Product Development/Technology Innovation/Applied Technology etc. will be preferred.

2. Post : Sr. Scientist
a. Division : Chemical Engineering & Process Development (CEPD)
b. Essential Educational Qualifications & Experience: Ph.D. in Chemical Science/Chemistry in the area of catalysis from a reputed university or institute with two years research experience.
c. Desirable Qualification and Experience: Excellent academic record and having sound research expertise in the area of catalysis and application development. Minimum 3 years of post-doctoral/industrial research experience after Ph.D. with high-quality publications in high impact journals. Candidates in this category should have enough experience in the synthesis and characterization of transition-metal based catalyst and should have expertise in performing common organic transformations including high-pressure reactions. The candidates having experience in Product Development/Technology Innovation/Applied Technology etc. will be preferred.

3. Post : Sr. Scientist
a. Division : Physical & Material Chemistry (PMC) / Center For Material Characterisation (CMC)
b. Essential Educational Qualifications & Experience: Ph.D. in Chemistry/Materials Science with two years of research experience in the area of bioceramic materials OR Ph.D. in Ceramics Engineering
c. Desirable Qualification and Experience: M.Sc. in Chemistry/Materials Science or B.E./B.Tech. in Ceramics Engineering/Materials Science; experience in the synthesis/processing/fabrication and characterization of bioceramics, experience in the fabrication and testing of devices & implants, Experience in handling biomimetic materials, bioceramic substrates, ceramic materials/composites for biomedical/clinical/therapeutic applications, experience in translational aspects of biomaterials-based products, scaffolds, bone substitutes, etc. The candidates having experience in Product Development/Technology Innovation/Applied Technology etc. will be preferred.

Essential Educational Qualifications & Experience: Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering or Polymer Engineering OR Ph.D. in Physics or Chemistry or Materials Science or allied areas with 2 years experience in the area of X-ray diffraction techniques applied to polymeric materials.

Desirable Qualification and Experience: Candidates with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering or Polymer Engineering OR a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or allied areas with minimum 2 years post-doctoral training and with experience in X-ray diffraction techniques applied to polymeric materials. Preference will be given to candidates who have contributed to advancements in methodology for X-ray diffraction or in solving crystal structures for synthetic semi crystalline polymers.

b. Essential Educational Qualifications & Experience: Ph. D. in Chemistry or Chemical Science with 2 years of post doctoral experience OR Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering.
c. Desirable Qualification and Experience: Candidate with a minimum of 3 years of research experience after Ph.D. (as evidenced by publications in international peer reviewed journals/patents) in the area of heterogeneous catalysis for MSW/ Plastic waste to value added products or Experience in Fine Chemicals area. The candidates having experience in Product or Process Development or Technology Innovation will be preferred.

6. Post : Sr. Scientist
a. Division : Catalysis & Inorganic Chemistry Division
b. Essential Educational Qualifications & Experience: Ph. D. in Chemistry or Chemical Science with two years of post doctoral experience.
c. Desirable Qualification and Experience: Candidate with a minimum of 3 years research experience after Ph. D. (as evidenced by publications in international peer reviewed journals/patents) in the area of Photocatalysis of Water Splitting or CO2 reduction to Hydrogen/ Chemicals/Fuels is preferred. Note:
a. The applicant must be a citizen of India.
b. All applicants must fulfill the essential requirements of the post and other conditions stipulated in the advertisement as on the last date of receipt of the online applications. They are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess at least the essential qualifications laid down for various posts as on the last date of receipt of the online applications. No enquiry asking for advice as to eligibility will be entertained. The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. The duly constituted Screening Committee will adopt its own criteria for short-listing the candidates. The candidate should therefore, mention in the application all the qualifications and experiences in the relevant area over and above the minimum prescribed qualification, supported with documents. f. If any document/ certificate furnished is in a language other than Hindi or English, a transcript of the same duly attested by a Gazetted officer or notary is to be submitted.
g. The date for determining the upper age limit, qualifications and /or experience shall be the closing date prescribed for receipt of applications. h. The period of experience in a discipline / area of work, wherever prescribed, shall be counted after the date of acquiring the minimum prescribed educational qualifications prescribed for that Grade.

General Instructions:
1. Benefits under Council service: a. These posts carry usual allowances i.e. Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA) etc. as admissible to the central government employees and as made applicable to CSIR. Council employees are also eligible for accommodation of their entitled type as per CSIR allotment rules depending on availability in which case HRA will not be admissible.
b. In addition to the emoluments indicated against each category of posts, benefits such as applicability of New Pension Scheme 2004, reimbursements of Medical Expenses, Leave Travel Concession, Conveyance advance and House Building Advance are available as per CSIR rules.
c. Scientists in CSIR are also permitted to undertake consultancy and sponsored R&D project activity. These activities give them scope to earn consultancy fee and honorarium as per CSIR guidelines governing these activities. Opportunities also arise for foreign deputations for training/presentation of papers/specific assignments etc.
d. CSIR provides excellent opportunities to deserving candidates for career advancement under Assessment Promotion Scheme for Scientists.

e. In case of universities/institute awarding CGPA/SGPA/OGPA grades etc., candidates are requested to convert the same into percentage based on the formula as per their university/institute.
f. First time users need to register themselves by clicking on ' Register' tab. Candidate needs to supply his/her email id which will be used as a login id into the system. The activation link will be sent to that email id. After clicking that activation link, his/her account of NCL Recruitment Portal will be activated. Once it is activated, he/she may login and proceed for applying. Please note that candidate can apply for more than one post using a single login id.
g. Once candidate logs in, he/she is required to select the post to apply and click ‘Fill Application’ against the post, he/she wishes to apply for. In case candidate has already logged 20 in on a previous occasion and began the process of application, the top of the page will display the post/s for which he/she has already applied. Then he/she needs to click 'View’ link to proceed.
h. Candidates can then start filling the online application form which is divided into 12 parts., namely Personal Information, Academic Details, Doctoral Work, Paper Publications, No. of publications & Patents, Technology Developed, Awards, Other Qualifications, Experience, CSIR Relatives, Application Fee Details and Enclosure . The first part to be filled in is the Basic information followed by the other parts.
i. While filling the online application form, Candidates must fill Personal Information and Academic Details. If these details are not filled, online application form will not submitted.
j. In case candidate feels that he/she has acquired some additional academic qualification which is relevant to the post advertised, he/she may enter that under 'Other qualification'. Please note that SSC and HSC details needs to be entered under ‘Academic details’ category and not to be entered under 'other qualification' category.
k. If candidates do not have any relatives who are in service in CSIR, he/she does not need to fill up the part under 'Relatives'.
l. The candidates are required to fill the details of online generated acknowledgement of remitted application fee viz. UTR / Transaction Number, Candidate’s Bank Account Number, UTR /Transaction Date and Amount etc. m.
m. After completely filling the online application form, candidates can save and take printout of the filled application in PDF format. Candidates need to note down “Application ID” carefully for future communication. The candidates must sign on this computer generated printed online application.
n. This computer generated application (Print-out) duly signed by the candidate and accompanied by attested copies of the certificates, mark sheets, testimonials in support of age, education qualifications, experience, re-prints of publications and caste certificate (if applicable), acknowledgement of remitted application fee (if applicable), along with one recent passport size self-signed photograph affixed, should be sent in an envelope superscribed “Application For The Post Of (Post Code ) Advt.
