Other Qualification Details :-
1. Role of Chairperson TRAI: The Chairperson heads TRAI. He/ She has powers of general superintendence and direction in the conduct Of the affairs Of the Authority and in addition to presiding over the meetings of the Authority, exercises and discharges such powers and functions Of the as may be prescribed.

2. Terms of Appointment: The post of Chairperson, TRAI will be falling vacant on 01.10.2020. The tenure of the post is for a term not exceeding three years or till the age of 65 years, whichever is At present, the Chairperson, TRAI, shall be entitled to a consolidated pay package of - Rs. 4,50,000 (Rupees Four Lakh Fifty Thousand only), as per 0M No. 16-1/2017/E-IIIA dated 10th January, 2018 issued by Min. of Finance, Deptt. of Expenditure. An employee Of the Government on his/her selection as Chairperson, TRAI shall have to retire from service before joining as Chairperson, TRAI.

3. Salary: Rs. 4,50,000/- P.M

4. Qualifications: The qualifications for appointment to the post as derived from Section 4 of the TRAI Act, are as follows: A person having special knowledge of, and professional experience in telecommunication, industry, finance, accountancy, law, the management or consumer affairs.

5. PROVIDED that such a person who is, or has been, in the service Of Government shall not be appointed as a member (including Chairperson) unless such person has held the post of Secretary, or Additional Secretary, or the post Of Additional Secretary and Secretary to the Government Of India or any equivalent post in the Central Government or the State Government for a period Of not less than three years.

Age: The tenure of the post is for a term not exceeding three years or till the age of 65 years
