Qualification : M.Sc, M.E/M.Tech, M.Phil/Ph.D
Other Qualifications :
1. Essential Qualification : M.Sc OR M.Tech OR M.Phil degree in any field of science/life science/physics/biophysics/ chemistry with a good academic record, and NET/GATE/JGEEBILS/ ICMR qualification OR M.Sc OR M.Tech OR M.Phil degree in any field of science/life science/physics/biophysics/ chemistry with 2 years of experience in patch clamp electrophysiology (support document required with a strong recommendation from employer/mentor).
2. Additional Experience : Candidates with some experience of molecular biology are encouraged to apply.
3. Nature of Work: The project covers extensive electrophysiology (patch-clamp) in rodent hippocampal slices (acute), and in cultures. Extensive gene transfection, plasmid preparation and designing are required. For reference about the laboratory work, candidates are encouraged to read - Mehta et.al. (2013) Neuron (PMID: 23395377), Mehta et.al. J. Neurosci. (2014) (PMID: 24790194), Mehta et.al. J. Gen. Physiology (2008) (PMID: 18725529).
4. Project Title: “Decoding protein deacetylation networks in the synaptic physiology of epileptic hippocampal neurons”. Duration of the Project : 3 years Initial appointment will be made for a period of six months and will be extended further depending upon the performance of the candidate.
