1. Required Skills and Experience: 
i. Master’s Degree in the field of Environmental Sciences/Biodiversity Conservation/Wildlife Sciences/Natural Resource Management or related field

ii. Outstanding communication, management and organizational skills

iii. Familiarity with the working environment and professional standards of international organizations.

iv. At least 3 years’ experience in implementation of community based conservation and natural resource management projects, especially in Himalayan landscapes.

v. Experience of working with the government and civil society organizations in the conservation sector

vi. Proficiency in English Bhutia and Lepcha (local languages) is essential.

2. Title: NUNV Project Associate - Conservation (Sikkim) Re-advertised

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision of the State Nodal Officer, direct supervision of the Divisional Forest Officer/District Collector (coordination with the National Project Management Unit,/ Programme Manager, UNDP, when required), the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
1. Support the National team, State Project Officer and LLPMU team in preparation of the Annual Workplans (AWPs) especially in design of the activities to be undertaken at the landscape level w.r.t the project results framework and tracking tools.

2. Support the team in project implementation at the landscape level particularly in the effective and quality delivery of activities related to biodiversity conservation and sustainable natural resource management under the approved AWP.

3. Support the team in monitoring and evaluation of the project activities at the landscape level.

4. Collect and compile information required for preparation and submission of Project Implementation Reviews, Quarterly Progress Reports, Annual Progress Reports and other relevant progress reports.

5. Keep close coordination with state and landscape level government agencies and relevant line departments, civil society organizations, academic and research institutions, community level institution and local communities to build convergence of programmes and resources in implementation of the project activities.

6. Support the team in organizing community level meetings, trainings and workshops and exposure visits. Mobilize/capacitate/strengthen local communities, organizations and partners for biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of natural resources.

7. Support linking of sectoral plan recommendations with various programmes, policies and schemes of the government especially in the context of conservation and leveraging funds for achieving the outcomes of the project.
Conduct and promote activities that will result in women empowerment and conservation of natural resources in the project landscape.

8.Plan community-based sustainable resource governance systems and demonstrate the same Help in resource mobilisation by developing proposals or identifying fund raising opportunities for sub-projects for biodiversity conservation and sustainable natural resource management in the project state.

9. Support consultants in conducting mid-term and terminal evaluation of the project. Contribute to knowledge management at the primary level (case studies, lessons learnt, achievements and successes) Undertake administrative tasks as required.
