1. Position: Seamen (Group- "C')
2. No of Post: 04 (UR-01. EWS-01, OBC-01, ST-01)
3. Pay Scale : Pay Band: Pay Level 1, (Rs.18000-56900/-) with Grade Pay of Rs.1800/-
4. Educational Qualification & Experience Essential:
(i) Xth class pass or equivalent.
(ii) Three years experience in sea going mechanized vessel with the 2 years in helmsman and seamanship work.
5. Desirable: Certificate of competency as "Mate of fishing vessel" issued by Marine Mercantile Department.
Age Limit
Upper Age Limit: 25 years as on closing date.

General Conditions:
1. The earlier Recruitment Notification issued in Employment News 4-10 December 2021 for the post of Seaman stand cancelled and all applicants applied earlier has to apply again, old application will not be entertained.
2. Application in the prescribed Format given below duly typed or neatly hand written in A4 size paper duly signed along with left hand Thumb Impression and along with relevant attested photocopies of educational qualifications, Mark Sheets, proof of age, category, essential & desirable qualification certificate, etc.
a) wherever necessary and four unsigned passport size photographs and two self addressed unstamped envelopes of 25 cms. X 12 cms. are to be sent by only through post addressed to: The Joint Commissioner Of Customs (P&v) Commissionerate General Office Of The Commissioner Of Customs Custom House, No. 60, Rajaji Salai, Chennai- 600001
3. Photographs pasted on the application will be duly self attested (self signature shall run through the Photo and the Application Form without defacing the face).
4. Incomplete or unsigned application and applications received without photographs or proper enclosures or received after due date will be summarily rejected.
5. Mere submission of application will not confer any right on the applicant to be called for written test. 6. Separate application form should be submitted for each post in separate Envelopes. The envelope (28 cms X 13 cms) containing the application must be super-scribed in bold letter as" Application For Marine Wing Posts Customs Commissionerate, Chennai" And Also Indicate The Name Of The Post Applied For and Category at the left side corner of the envelope.
7. There is no Application Fee.
8. The Experience certificate must contain period with dates, names of Organizations, name of the post held, salary drawn and nature of work done, signature of signatory/Owner with name and seal, etc.
9. A person seeking appointment on the basis of reservation to OBCs must ensure that he possesses the caste/ community certificate as per the Central list of OBCs issued by the National Commission for Backward Classes and does not fail in creamy layer on the crucial date(31.05.2022).
10. Candidates with higher qualification may also apply.
11. Serving Government candidates should apply through proper channel with a NOC certificate from the Head of the Department that no disciplinary/vigilance case is pending against them.
12. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification and candidature of such candidate is liable to be summarily rejected.
13. The Department reserves its right to accept or reject the candidature of any applicant and/or to cancel the recruitment process at any stage without assigning any reason whatsoever.
14. The Department reserves the right to extend the last date for submission of application, if required.
Selection Process
1. The Selection Committee shall scrutinize the applications received and candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria stipulated above as on the closing date of receipt of application will be called for Documents verifications. The shortlisted candidates will be called for Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/Skill (Swimming Test) test
2. The Candidates qualifying the PET Skill test will be called for a Written Examination containing technical questions relating to the post. The Written Examination will be held only in Chennai.
3. The Hail Tickets for above examinations will be sent by Post and will also be available in the Departmental website i.e. https://chennaicustoms.gov.in/.
4. The results of the Written Examination and Skill test (PET) will be displayed in the Notice Boards of Customs, O/o the Chief Commissioner of Customs Zone Chennai, further in the Departmental Website i.e. https://chennaicustoms. gov.in/ and will not be published in the Newspapers.
5. Selected candidates shall be subjected to Medical Fitness Test, Verification of Character Antecedents and are liable to be posted anywhere in the jurisdiction of the Chief Commissioner of Customs Zone, Chennai
6. Travelling Allowance will not be paid for the Written Examination/PET (Swimming Test) skill test.
How to Apply
Closing date for receipt of Application Forms: The application forms complete in every respect must reach on or before 31.05.2022 by post. Applications received after the closing date or incomplete in any respect shall be summarily rejected and no communication in respect of the rejected application forms shall be entertained. This office shall not be responsible for any postal delays. This office reserves the right to cancel the recruitment at any stage without assigning any reason whatsever. The selected candidates are liable to be posted anywhere in the jurisdiction of the Chief Commissioner of Customs Zone, Chennai.
