Qualification Details:
Applications are invited from the eligible local male candidates of Lakshadweep in the prescribed format for the posts of Temporary Marine Wildlife Protection Watchers in the Department of Environment and Forest, U. T of Lakshadweep Administration under the Scheme of Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change APO for the Marine Wildlife Protection Watchers and establishment of Temporary Anti-Poaching camps (Uninhabited islands) in all the Protected Areas of Lakshadweep under CSS- "Development of Wildlife Habitats" — UT of Lakshadweep.

1. Name of the post: These posts are known as Marine Wildlife Protection Watchers.

2. Category of the post: Marine Wildlife Protection Watchers are the Uniform staff and it is compulsory to wear uniform in the prescribed manner as directed by the Department.

3. No of posts: 200 (These posts are Island wise Distribution of Posts)

4. The post of Marine Wildlife Protection Watchers has been distributed to all the ten islands based on the availability of natural resources and proposed establishment of anti poaching camps.

5. pay: Rs. 15.000/- per month (consolidated).

6. Place of Posting: i. The island wise posting is earmarked for their respective natives. All the candidates shall register their candidature in their respective native islands only. Native islanders includes one of the parent belongs to the same island or his spouse belongs to the same island. It is the responsibility of the candidate to prove his nativity if challenged during the course of selection.

ii. If sufficient candidates are not available in Bitra for the earmarked posts, the chance will be provided to the waitlisted candidates of Chetlat Island to fill the vacancy at Bitra. Still the vacancy persists at Bitra, chance will be provided to the waitlisted candidates of Kiltan Island and subsequently the post will be filled from the common waitlisted candidates from all other islands

7. Duties of the post : i. To make regular patrolling in all the islands, uninhabited islands, protected areas, Guard in anti-poaching camps at uninhabited islands etc as per the direction of Range Forest Officer, Forester & Forest Guard. Take the regular guard duties in all the vulnerable areas and make regular patrolling, stop all illegal activities, detect the offences, brought to the notice of the immediate superior officer etc.

ii. To travel in high sea, monitoring the status, population estimate, habitat monitoring, behaviour and ecology of marine mammals for long term monitoring etc or any other duties entrusted to them in time to time.

8. Essential Qualification: i. 10th Passed from a Government recognized Board.
ii. Physical Standards (minimum): Height: 163 cm, Chest: 80 cm Expansion: 5cm
iii. Candidates must pass physical endurance last of 25 km. walk to be completed in 4 hours
iv. Candidates must pass physical endurance of 200 meters of swimming in the sea to be completed within 15 minutes.
v. Candidates must pass physical endurance of comfortably maintain themselves in sea water by completing a 10-minute float without using any swim/floating aids.

Age:
The candidate should be 18 to 25 years of age as on 24.07.2020 (Relaxable for SC/ST candidates, Ex-Servicemen and other special categories of person in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by Government of India from time to time).

Selection Process:
Selection will be made from the candidates who successfully qualify the criteria in essential qualification above, on the basis of total marks obtained in the following pattern of ranking.

i. 50% of weightage in marks will be awarded to academic marks obtained in the 10th Pass certificate.

ii. 10 marks for the Open Water Diver certification

iii. 5 for the UT/ State level sports certificate

iv. 10 marks for the National level sports certificate (If both UT/State & National)

v. 5 marks for NCC/ NSS certificate

vi. 20 marks for personnel interview.

How to Apply:
1. Interested eligible male candidates may register their candidature in the prescribed form (Schedule 1) for registration with original certificates to prove their age, educational qualification and Nativity certificate on or before 24th July, 2020 at the Unit Office of the Department of Environment & Forest.

2. On verification of applications & certificates, draft checklist of eligible candidates will be published in the official website of Union Territory of Lakshadweep Administration (https://lakshadweep.gov.in), providing opportunity to the candidates to rectify the defects any.

3. On finalising the final checklist, the date of physical measurement date of endurance test and date of interview will be published separately for each islands in the official website and in the unit office with a minimum time period of 10 days. No individual communication letters will be issued in this regard.

4. All the candidates should update themselves from the official website of Union Territory of Lakshadweep Administration or with the unit offce of the Department of Environment & Forest about the time and date of various tests.

5. Those candidates whose names are published in the final checklist only will be permitted to attend the physical measurement, those candidates qualify in physical measurement test only will be permitted to attend endurance tests and those candidates qualify in endurance test only will be permitted to attend the interview.

6. Candidates should apply only in the prescribed format. The application form is available in the website of Lakshadweep Administration. The duly filled application form along with self attested copies of proof of age, educational qualification. community. etc should reach to respective units of the Department of Environment and Forest, U.
